Meet the Host

Emily B. DeJeu is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Business Management Communication at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business and the host of the Tepperspectives podcast. Her research examines professional writing, communication pedagogy, and ways that generative AI is reshaping writing, learning, data storytelling, and workplace communication. She is the recipient of the Association for Business Communication’s Distinguished Publication Award and co-author of the textbook Writing Proposals (Bedford/St. Martin’s).
In addition to her teaching and research, Emily serves as Faculty Media Content Coordinator for Tepperspectives, Tepper’s thought leadership platform, and is a faculty lead for the Tepper School’s Executive Education courses in AI and professional communication. She teaches undergraduate, graduate, and executive education courses on business communication, presentations, and data storytelling. She is a recognized expert on the implications of generative AI for communication and learning and has provided commentary for outlets including CNN, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Bloomberg, and AP News. Emily received her MA and PhD in Rhetoric from Carnegie Mellon University.
